Gourmet Evening at Farmer Copleys Pontefract-

Another excellent Gourmet evening was held during July 2o10 at Farmer Copleys Farm Shop in Pontefract West Yorkshire.

Around 50 guests enjoyed a three course meal, along with   good wine.

The sweet was strawberries, fresh cream and shortbread. However, the difference was that the guests has to construct it themselves following directions from the chef!  Guests are sworn to secrecy, but I gather than  shortbread  wasnt he only surface that was covered in cream!

Yorkshire puddings make the perfect starter

As many of you will know, it was Yorkshire Day on Sunday 1 August and we decided to celebrate!  To mark the occasion we will be offering a selection of new limited edition Yorkshire Pudding starters that will get your taste buds buzzing.

It’s all part of a wider initiative launched by Womersley fruit and herb vinegars, a supplier to Farmer Copleys Farm Shop, to get people to think about being more creative with Yorkshire Puddings.

It’s a good idea and we hope that visitors to the Moo Cafe will be inspired by our suggestions. Better still we want you to have a go at putting your own thoughts forward .

All you have to do is post them on our blog below – we would love to see just how inventive our visitors can be.

New juicing machine continues fresh approach to food and drink

For those of you who have come into Farmer Copleys recently you may have noticed we have a new addition to our team – well, a new juicing machine to be precise.

Although we have yet to name our new addition, it is proving very popular with Mum’s, Dad’s and children alike. You even get the chance to feed the fresh oranges (sourced from Spain) into the machine yourself, so you can see that absolutely nothing but orange juice comes out.  There are no additives or colourings what-so-ever.

One hundred percent, fresh, tasty orange juice that’s yummy and perfect for a hot summer’s day!

ON THE HUNT FOR NEW RECRUITS

Well, despite all the talk of hard times, business is booming here at Farmer Copleys and as a result we are on the look out for two new recruits.

Sticking with a style that works, we have chosen to hold our second open event on Friday 23 July from 10am – 1pm at Pontefract Town Hall. We are inviting anyone who feels that they have what it takes to work in a busy retail role to come along and let us know.

Each person who takes the time to visit will be given an initial meeting and then those we feel have the right attitude, personality and ‘get up and go’ for the job will be asked back for an official interview later in the day.

We have two new positions in retail; one for the shop and another for the butchery department. No prior experience is needed, just enthusiasm and commitment.

So come on. Let your friends and family know. Farmer Copleys is recruiting and you could be just what we are looking for.

FESTIVAL @ THE FARM – THE FAMILY FUN DAY OUT FOR FREE!

If you’re looking for the perfect FREE day out in Yorkshire this weekend then look no further – Festival @ The Farm is back for a second year and is set to be a roaring success.

Peppered Sirloin Steak Recipe with New Potatoes & Asparagus

Ingredients

  • 0.75 –  1.0 kg sirloin steak
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley
  • 1/4 cup minced onion
  • I crushed garlic
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon freshly ground pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon dry mustard

Instructions:

  1. Lightly score edges of siloin steak at 1”( 25mm) intervals.
  2. Preheat grill.
  3. Combine butter, parsley, onion, Worcestershire sauce, garlic, pepper and mustard in small saucepan.
  4. Heat stirring continually over low heat until butter melts.
  5. Reserve 1/4 of the mixture.
  6. Place sirloin steak on grill  pan then brush several times with butter mixture.
  7. Cook basting frequently with butter mixture 6 minutes per side.
  8. Place siloin steak on a serving platter then cut thin slices across the grain.
  9. Drizzle reserved butter mixture over steak.

Serve with  new potatoes &  asparagus. Enjoy!
