Open Farm Sunday – 17th June
17th June 2018
From 10:00am - 4:00pm
At Event Field Farmer Copleys
Hundreds of farms all over the country open their gates for LEAF (Linking the Environment And Farming) Open Farm Sunday, we will be hosting our event on Sunday the 17th June 2018 . This is the farming industry’s open day, it offers a fantastic chance for people to discover real farming first hand, meet the farmers that provide their dinner on a daily basis, ask them any questions they want and learn the field to fork story for the crops. For our Open Farm Event it will take place in the Event Field, enter via the farm shop, then follow the 0.5Km path, starting with ‘understanding soil’ (Heather Copley will be found in a deep soil profile/hole), then over to historic farming, Alan Copley with wheat to bread, Jamie Gutteridge with the Carrot & Parsnip story, Farm Star on Ploughing, Edward Walker with Potato to Crisps, Ripon Farm Services on drilling/planting seeds, Joanne Bulmer with Beef, Millie Ramskill with Sheep, Harry Copley with his Farming Simulator and Robert Copley with PYO Strawberries (this should coincide with the first weekend of PYO Strawberries), Martin Wildes from the NFU.
The Farm Shop will also be continuing the story and Moo Café and Beast will be serving traditional Roast Beef, as it is also Fathers Day. So why not bring the family, learn a little, pick some strawberries, and treat Dad to a roast dinner or a Pork Pie and Craft Beer from the Farm Shop?
